Our music

Since it began, Grace Chicago has been engaging some of Chicago’s most dynamic musicians to create a truly unique sacred music experience. The Christian Church has a rich musical heritage and Grace's music taps into its full history with unique twists on the ancient and the modern. Director of Music, Artie Black, is a saxophonist, composer, and educator. Artie guides our weekly worship service in collaboration with artists like Ben Lansing on guitars, Tim Mulvenna on drums and percussion, and vocalists Molly Lehr and Michele Thomas. Music at Grace incorporates new arrangements of traditional repertoire, a large collection of original pieces, and material that draws on the rich history of Chicago music.

Under our previous director, Davin Youngs, our musicians recorded an album called the The Third Thing. You can listen to the first track, Peace, O Peace, below or get the full album! Davin was also featured on the Rob Bell podcast.
